"Another big problem is that in order to play it with everything on your going to need a pretty hefty system."

I can see my house from here

Graphically UC has the obvious appearance of being a bit to overdone; the constant orange, blue and green lighting of the cities in the night just doesn't appear to blend. While effects like bump mapped water which is also uses real-time reflectivity are wonderful to look at and add a lot to the atmosphere, they also help slow it down. The texturing on buildings is high but doesn't appear to differ much and character detail is top quality.

Had the developers toned down on their overkill of lights, lost some pedestrians, toned down the effects and added some differing textures to the buildings then it might have been more realistic. As it is UC seems like a game designed for the playstation because of its weird style looks.

Another big problem is that in order to play it with everything on your going to need a pretty hefty system. A 500Mhz P3 or K7 coupled with a Voodoo 3500, G400 or TNT2-Ultra would almost certainly be a good start, even then some parts might still go a bit sluggish. With all the people and cars going around the city and events occurring in real-time, there are moments when even the best systems can get in a tangle.
