Support for EAX, Direct Sound3D and A3Dv2 allow Urban Chaos that little bit extra atmosphere. The difference is quite obvious when you can hear the world around you in all its dimensions; the added depth becomes very obvious. The quality of sound is also high, be it speech, ambience or the techno trance style of music. To cut a long story short, the sound is virtually flawless, music fits the scene and the cities literally echo with life around you.

The Verdict

UC is a game that more than anything else has depth, is graphically overdone and is flimsy control wise but remains very deep. The gameplay is rarely repetitive and often quite a challenge, it really has you feeling as though you're a police man/women investigating a crime. We'll be playing UC for some time to come; despite its obvious flaws it is still worth some of your hard earned.
