"The game barely requires any level of physical control outside of the ability to move a mouse and press a few arrow keys."

Finally, you can command a REAL army

Perhaps the most addictive aspect of GC, and it is addictive, is the sheer sense of 'being' that it bestows. No longer do you simply feel like a casual participant in another mans war, no, this time GC manages to pull you in and really make you feel as though 'you're the man' (women for the most part, you'll see). As you command units using smooth mouse control across the landscapes, the level of thought and beauty thrown upon your eyes and brain is exhilarating.

The game barely requires any level of physical control outside of the ability to move a mouse and press a few arrow keys. The real intelligence comes from how you move and position your units, running headlong into a battle might win the first few levels, but later ones will see you die instantly when using similar tactics.

Just like any realistic warfare scenario, a deep understanding of each and every unit's abilities is essential if you are to succeed. For example, you're not going to send artillery in ahead of the pack because they have no ground defences, instead keeping them well back is the wisest choice as they are just as effective from a distance as they are close up. However it's not always that simple, units such as troops may only carry light arms but they do often come with grenades and thus can also be used from a distance, there's a lot of room for thought here.
