More
detail on level design, perhaps some trees or even a house or
road here and there would have helped. More game modes with
unique styles to fit the game would have also been wise, how
about a 'capture the bridge' game where teams rush to take a
specific piece of land. Anything but what the game ended up
with, a dull and repetitive Deathmatch that's fun for about
an hour.
Sound
sense once again
Sound
is perhaps the only point at which Treadmarks can truly excel;
from its hardcore rock and techno style tracks to the huge A3D
and EAX supported explosions that dust the various levels with
their presence. It's high quality and makes ears tingle with
delight, in fact it's one of the only reasons we actually played
TR longer than 4 hours.
The
Verdict
Treadmarks
is an incredibly good and fairly original idea, but it fails.
It fails because nobody likes a repetitive game and one that's
not easy to control at even the best of times. Speedy3D makes
no bones about it, we didn't like Treadmarks and we didn't think
it liked us.
