After many years, mission packs and a sequel to Quake2 we finally see what is touted as being the final in the Quake series, Quake3Arena. A sequel that does away with the single player of the past and thrusts itself into the future with a revolution all of it's own. Quake3Arena is multiplayer gone mad and back to the roots of a land known only as 'Doom'. Make no mistake; gaming just got more frantic, terrifying and good looking than ever before. Prepare to meet your Doom, no prepare to meet your QUAKE!

Quake3Arena takes the best of Doom, Quake, Quake2 Multiplayer and Modification ideas and slaps them all into one great big bundle of carnage. Add in some bots (automated off-line opponents) to appease the single player fanatics and you have an all round winner. Supporting the famous Deathmatch and Capture the Flag modes and now also adding tournament and team games, Q3A is certainly packed full of goodness. So will it win out against the likes of the newel released 'Unreal Tournament'?

Get to the gameplay damnit!

The controls in Q3A are as any veteran of the ID Software legacy might expect, perfection itself. The professional combination of Mouse and Keyboard is as good and smooth as ever, you simply can't fault the control system in this one. Despite there being a whole host of keys to bind, you will only ever use just a few and it truly is simplicity in the making. The ease of use and added playability that they give only helps make Q3A a better game than it already is.
