"NFS5 is a gem, from the graphics to the sound and gameplay, through and through it's a work of art."

Is that A3D I hear?

NFS5 puts the newest 3D sound mediums such as A3D and EAX to their best possible use with the ambient noises of birds and waterfalls alongside the ever-present hum of a mild mannered engine. Sound is of the highest quality and is always accompanied by an enjoyable techno-rock style of music, something that can really get the heart pumping during a heated race.

However the music won't appeal to everybody and there can be times in a race of such little activity that it doesn't warrant the music at all, yet it plays on. Perhaps a touch of dynamic music would have been a wiser choice, music that attaches itself to the action on-screen a little more.

The Verdict

NFS5 is a gem, from the graphics to the sound and gameplay, through and through it's a work of art. Lacking more gameplay modes, tracks and weather effects to improve last ability, but still at its heart beats a world class game. It's good but could have done with an extra couple of months in development to give it that needed extra depth.
