Personally,
I have always been a huge fan of giant robot games. Mechwarrior
and Heavy Gear are a few that come to mind. These games have
always been extremely addictive as you control a huge mechanical
war machine, known as a battle mech through cities, and trampling
over everything. After being delayed for almost a year, the
next big installment to the mechwarrior series is finally here,
Mechwarrior 3. Touting a brand spanking new 3D engine, better
controls, and refined physics, Mechwarrior 3 is set to blow
away the competition. Does it live up the enormous task? Let's
find out.
In
the original Mechwarrior games you have played as either a clan
member, like in Mechwarrior 2, or as a mercenary in Mechwarrior
2: Mercenaries, my personal favorite. This time around you are
a member of the Inner Sphere, trying to totally wipe out the
last remnants of the Smoke Jaguar Clan. The game starts out
with you on the Jaguar home world, trying to wipe out their
leader that has recently gone into hiding. As usual it is you
against the world. Later in the game, as you start to link up
with some of the other Inner Sphere members on the planet, everything
gets a little easier, as you even the odds.
