Graphical
Depth is awesome
Interestingly
the hold up comes not from the code, sound or even the gameplay
but from the amount of art being put to use in creating the
games deep and dark atmospheres. The real genius behind AITD4
is that the entire game is being modelled in real time 3D, yet
the game itself has such high quality textures and models that
it almost looks like a moving picture.
It's
unlikely that from the various screenshots accompanying this
preview that you can truly hope to know just how great this
game is. Having seen it in action just once and for only a period
of 5 or so minutes, we can assure you that the attention to
detail is astounding. Dynamic lights like that of Nocturne make
a constant appearance and amazingly high quality backdrops blend
seamlessly into the real-time 3D world. Flashes of lighting
and 3D sound all mesh together to help build a spooky and scary
atmosphere.
The
aim of the developers is not to scare or to frighten but to
SHOCK and to shock you over and over until you're nothing but
a heap of trembling blubber. With an engine that is bound to
turn heads, sound designed to heighten the atmosphere to new
levels and a real-time 3D world of picture quality detail, AITD4
looks set to reinvent the action/adventure genre.
