Before we get into discussing the games we are here to talk
about, can you tell us just how the idea for a new game comes
about at Rage? Rage titles tend to have a genre basis but are
often quite unique.
Martin:
Each office has games designers and it's their job to collect
game concepts together. They will then work with a small team
consisting of 1 programmer and a couple of artists for three
months to create a very small demo. This is then presented to
the Sales and Marketing team and the heads of development at
a meeting. The product is then discussed and basically given
the Yes or NO. These meetings are done regularly to check the
progress of all the products.

Waters:
HW
is a game that includes elements from BattleZone, Quake and
C&C, compiles them together and comes up with something quite
original. You get to control various different types of units
from a huge battleship and send them on missions to destroy
the enemy. Not only does HW look 100%, it feels it thanks to
the realistic physics engine and the sound.
As
Martin himself can attest to, HW is several games rolled into
one and your just going to have to wait to play it for yourself
before truly understanding how groundbreaking it is.

Hostile Waters could be described as BattleZone with wings as
well as wheels, correct?
Martin:
It's a difficult one to position. It's similar to many products
but it really will stand out from the rest.
