"In single player your mission is to bring your team of ultimate bad asses to the top of the league by crushing your opponents..."

Game Questions

KP: Ok, lets get to the game. What was your inspiration for this game?

DJ: Our inspiration comes from a wide range of games like Speedball the old Amiga classic, Unreal Tournament, Quake III Arena and Tekken to name a few. Atmospherical inspiration has been collected from various movies and books like Bladerunner, The Matrix and Neuromancer.

KP: Would you say that Blitz: Disc Arena is in its own genre?

DJ: Pretty much since we have combined so many different genres that to point out a single one would demean the game and our intentions. It's a first person shooter, meets virtual fighter and a science-fiction sports game, all in one package.

KP: Could you explain what exactly the point of the game is?

DJ: In single player your mission is to bring your team of ultimate bad asses to the top of the league by crushing your opponents on the arena floor by either kicking the hell out of them or by scoring enough points by flinging a metal disc through a goal to beat them. The key words here are fight and score. In multiplayer the scope of this game really extends by introducing many new styles of gameplay other than the usual CTF and deathmatch modes.

KP: What type of engine are you using to create the game?

DJ: We are using our own in-house developed 3D engine called the BDA - Engine.

KP: What next generation features will it support?

DJ: True phong lighting, software bumpmapping on virtually every 3D card, 32-bit color depth to name a few.
