"Before we start hacking this case, I want to give you a couple of dos and don't which are always true..."

Before we start hacking this case, I want to give you a couple of dos and don't which are always true, regardless of what modification you are doing.

  • First, before you start modifying your case, empty it of all electronic parts. Cutting or grinding metal will give you some metal chips witch you DON'T want in your system for obvious reasons. I also recommend taking off every removable piece from the case itself. The bezel, drive racks, the PC speaker.

  • Second, make sure you won't need the case for the next few days. It's a good idea to mount your system in another case while doing your modification. Then, you can take all the time you need.

  • Third, take your time. Rushing your work will give you bad results.

  • Finally, use the good tools. Modifying your case is fun as long as you have the good tool to do what you want. Also make sure you have all the material you need BEFORE you start, screws, bolts, or whatever you may need. There is nothing more frustrating then being blocked in the middle of your project because you are missing something.

Now lets get started.
