For
years, the 'art' of finding a good motherboard for your AMD
based processor was not an easy task. Not as many Mainboard
manufacturers wanted to spend their time accommodating such
a niche market as was with the AMD based chips of the time,
the Intel market was just so much larger. This has still not
changed, and while you can find Athlon boards now, they are
not much in the way of features. Many of these early Athlon
mainboards were based on the AMD 'fester' design. While these
boards worked, they offered nothing in the way of new and innovative
features; this was when FIC decided to create the SD11 (now
at rev 1.8).
