Dell Optiplex GX200

"I used to think that in the process of owning a new case or modding an old case, one definitely had to get prepared to have some bloody knuckles."

Whether it's for replacing motherboards, power supplies, or modding for that special touch, it comes down the case you have that eases the way for those difficult situations. The type of case you own can cause many problems:

  • Inaccessibility to the power supply connection due to capacitors or other objects
  • Air circulation
  • Motherboard replacement issues
  • CPU, CD-ROM Drive, Floppy & RAM replacement
  • Ribbon cable assortment
  • Bloody knuckles
  • Inconvenient for cleaning

I used to think that in the process of owning a new case or modding an old case, one definitely had to get prepared to have some bloody knuckles. However, Dell is on the right track to help change some of these frustrating "nit-picks", as I show you with their new Optiplex systems. While my main focus is on the case design, I'll throw in some benchmarks and pretty pictures.

Dell Optiplex GX200

It's not really a modder's dream case, but holds true to be a sturdy, reliable, workstation case with some goodies inside too. Even some thought was put to the finished product. It holds the case in a cardboard carrying style box (in the main box), which is lined with styrofoam, so all you have to do is grab on to the handles and pull the case out of the box. Very easily done, simple, and makes you actually appreciate your cardboard box for once.
