Incoming
Forces:
The
original Incoming was very much a pilot for future products
by what must be Britain's largest software house. Rages hard
concentration on graphics helped bring in the sales, yet Incoming
lacked seriously in depth and strategy - very much a point and
shoot affair. IF is the sequel to Incoming and not only promises
more stunning graphics and the same pace of play, but also strategy
elements and enhanced depth.
Having
seen IF first hand ourselves, we can tell you that it truly
is an amazing looking game. We were even bold enough to have
a quick play while the PR guys weren't looking, sadly not knowing
the controls caused many a crash. Wondering about the plot?
More Aliens? To early to say.
Ques1)
Incoming Forces (IF) was by far the most visually impressive
game we saw at ECTS (even with the bugs that were crudely covered
up =]). With its 32Bit Textures and visually inspiring effects,
won't this title require a hum dinger of a PC to even run?
Martin:
It will require a high end PC to appreciate all the effects
but minimum spec details have not been decided on.
Ques2)
How much have you managed to expand from the point and shoot
elements of gameplay in the original? We hear rumours of 'strategy'.
Martin:
Incoming was criticised for the lack of depth of its gameplay,
although we said when we released it, that it was an arcade
shooter. So we are going to appease some of the critics with
a strong strategy feel to the product. We still want to retain
the arcade feel to the product. I think people will be surprised
at the depth if they have played the original.
