Category 5 RJ-45 connectors

These are the physical connectors, which must be attached to the ends of the cable. These connectors look much like a phone line connector, only slightly wider (which allows more data to be transmitted). A package of ten will run you up about $2.99 at your local Radioshack or IT store.

RJ-45 crimping device

Unless you have a really good pair of fine needle nose pliers you will need to pick up one of these devices. These can be quite expensive, averaging about $40 for a decent pair. These devices usually also come with a wire stripping mechanism which will remove the excess plastic around casing of the cat5 cable.
