When
Carmageddon first blasted onto our screens many ended up being
addicted for days thanks to the unique physics model and grusome
gameplay. C2 turned out to be more of the same but with better
graphics, this disapointed a lot of people who were hoping for
something original and new. Now TDR is here with it's new original
top quality graphics, thumping sound and physics engine TO DIE
FOR!
TDR
gives the Carmageddon genre such a new lease of life that it's
almost a totally different game, almost. The brutality from
the originals still exists, accept now we have a cross with
Midtown Madness and added new graphics engine.
You
would have to see the game to know that it truly does look different
from previous games, it plays in a similar way but is still
very different. There's an air of realism now that the originals
tended to fade out and into a more Evil world, now it's more
like Carmageddon but in Midtown Madness style.
Perhaps
the biggest selling point next to the well established gameplay
is the new engine. The graphics are all large textures in 16Bit
format and the effects like dust are heart lifting to say the
least. When you skid the dust or smoke you make seem's to act
almost realistically. It flows and blows away slowly, navigating
objects just like in real life.
Pedestrians
are also much more detailed now but quite how this will be in
the final version is not yet known. In-fact TDR still has a
way to go, the version we saw looked in-complete with many bugs
and signs of moving away from the violent factor (NO!!!!...).
Still time will tell, expect a preview from us soon.
